Scott Shire joins the Dorsett & Jackson Team

Scott Shier has joined the sales team at Dorsett & Jackson, Inc. Scott brings 35 years of sales and sales management experience to his new position.

Scott began his career in the paint and coatings industry in 1980 - starting as a lab technician at Sinclair Paint. He later worked for Fredrick Hansen Paint Company as a formulating chemist - developing architectural coatings. In order to broaden his formulating experience - he moved on to Whittaker Corporation in Colton, CA - developing coil extrusion, and industrial coatings.

Scott joined BYK Chemie in 1988 - starting as a technical sales representative - he was later promoted to Regional Sales Manager. In 2002 Scott joined the P.T. Hutchins Company as a Sales and Product manager. He became Vice President of CASE sales - responsible for the West coast - Rocky Mountain - Southwest and Southeast regions.

Dorsett& Jackson Announces the Retirement of Carl Hassis

Carl Hassis began his employment at Dorsett & Jackson, Inc. in 1978 as a Technical Sales Representative.

Prior to joining D&J Carl had earned a B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson University and a Master's Degree in Surface Chemistry from Lehigh University. After graduating; Carl worked in the aerospace industry developing solid propellants for rockets and missiles. Upon moving to the West Coast - he worked as an adhesive chemist -then as a laboratory director; developing pigment dispersions. Later he became a regional salesman - selling many of the dispersions he had developed in the laboratory.

For the past 37 years Carl has been involved with technical sales at Dorsett & Jackson, Inc. He has been responsible for introducing new and unique products - primarily to the CASE markets. He has held the title of Vice president Technology for the past 6 years.

Dorsett & Jackson Announces Paul Grub's Retirement

After 54 years as a sales executive with Dorsett & Jackson, Inc., Paul E. Grubs announced his retirement as of January 1st, 2015.

Paul started his career at D&J in 1960 after working for Pan American Airways and Great Lakes Carbon. He, along with partners Romer Johnson and Don Witteman began purchasing Dorsett &Jackson, Inc. in 1968 from prior owners Bob Dorsett and Hartley Jackson. Paul was instrumental in initiating the proposed buyout. Paul became President of D&J in 1973 when he, Johnson and Witteman had acquired 51% of the company. He later became Chairman of the board of directors. During Paul's employment at Dorsett &Jackson, Inc. - the company grew from a small regional company selling raw materials in Southern California and Arizona to one of the largest specialty chemical distributors in the Western United States.

Paul remains active as Owner and President of Aero Marine Products - an internet company selling resins for molding compounds.

Evonik Corporation's Inorganic Materials Business Unit has announced the geographic expansion of Dorsett & Jackson, Inc. in the Western region of the United States. The western territories now include Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. This includes ACEMATT® Matting Agents, SIPERNAT® and SIDENT® Precipitated Silica as well as AEROSIL® Fumed Silica, AEROXIDE® Mixed Metal Oxides and AERODISP® Dispersions. Walsh & Associates had previously supported Evonik in these regions.
